North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) Secretary General Mark Rutte called Turkey a "staunch and capable ally," following a meeting with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on Tuesday.
"Excellent to meet with President Erdogan in Ankara today as we prepare the #NATOSummit next month to keep the Alliance strong ... We also discussed Ukraine, where there is a real window of opportunity for progress towards peace," NATO secretary stated on his X account.
President Erdogan and Rutte discussed NATO-Turkey relations, the ongoing war in Ukraine, but also other global matters. Turkish President added that the country will contribute lasting ceasefire, saying that he is in touch with both parties amid his upcoming meeting with Ukrainian President Volodimir Zelensky.
