Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Ryabkov said on Friday that his country is ready for an "honest dialogue" with the United States.

In an interview with Komsomolskaya Pravda, Ryabkov stated that there are no "friends of Moscow" among the US political class but that US President-elect Donald Trump attacking the Biden Administration sends "contradictory signals." He noted that Russia is "open to an honest dialogue based on mutual respect and consideration of interests. Whether the new administration will take advantage of this opportunity is a big question."

Ryabkov also said that the test launch of the latest medium-range Oreshnik hypersonic missile is not only a sign of a "possible form of reaction to the highly escalatory actions of the US and NATO in the context of the Ukrainian crisis " but also indicates how Russia will potentially respond to the US sending its medium- and shorter-range land-based missiles to different regions in the world.
