S. Arabia signs MoU with China's Huawei

Saudi Arabia signed a memorandum of understanding with tech giant Huawei Technologies Co., the state communication office said on Thursday.

According to the statement, the memorandum pertains to cloud computing as well as to building high-tech complexes in Saudi cities. Saudi Arabia's Energy Minister Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman previously mentioned a plan to "establish a regional center" for Chinese factories in the country.

The deal was reached during a visit by Chinese President Xi Jinping that saw Riyadh and Beijing deepen their ties by signing a series of agreements, including those on hydrogen energy, judicial assistance, and information technology. Xi also expressed readiness to expand oil trade with Saudi Arabia and strengthen coordination on energy policies.
