South Korean Foreign Minister Cho Tae-yul (pictured) stressed on Wednesday that his country and the United States share "full consensus" on the complete denuclearization of North Korea.
Asked about US President Donald Trump's recent quoting of North Korea as a nuclear power during a parliamentary hearing, Cho insisted that there is a difference between the terms of a nuclear power and a nuclear-armed country. Still, he added that it is "difficult to predict" if the US will consider the current level of development of North Korea's program enough to classify it as a nuclear weapon carrier.
Previously, Trump announced his intention to reach out to North Korean Supreme Leader Kim Jong-un and for the US to have relations with Pyongyang in order to ease tensions.
