The South Korean Foreign Ministry announced on Thursday that it sanctioned several entities from China and Russia as they violated the United Nations (UN) Security Council (UNSC) Resolution 2371 by transporting iron ore from North Korea.

The department's measures applied to the freight ship Sunrise 1; the shipping company where it is registered, Xiangrui Shipping Co. Ltd. from Hong Kong; the latter's Chinese operators Sun Zhengzhe and Sun Feng; and the consignor LLC Consul DV from Russia.

"The government will firmly and consistently enforce the law against those involved in sanctions violations, in collaboration with like-minded countries," the ministry said.
