S. Korea to invest $22.6B in AI, chips, other tech in next 5 years

South Korean Science Ministry revealed on Monday during the Presidential Advisory Council on Science and Technology meeting that the country's government aims to put 30 trillion won (approximately $22.6 billion) into advanced technologies over the next five years.

According to ministry officials, the investment will focus on 12 national strategic technologies, among which are artificial intelligence (AI), semiconductors, robotics, rechargeable batteries, aerospace and ocean engineering, and next-generation communications.
