Turkey's Justice Minister Abdulhamit Gul (pictured) told Haberturk TV on Monday that Ankara is considering asking an international court to take over the case involving the murder of Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi.
"We’ve conducted technical and legal measures. Hence, should the relevant decision be made, the case will be passed to an international court," Gul stated. He called the Khashoggi killing a "brutal murder that needs to be solved with no efforts to hush up the case" and blasted Saudi Arabia for refusing to "constructively" contribute to punishing those responsible.
On Sunday, Saudi Foreign Minister Adel bin Ahmed Al-Jubeir insisted Riyadh will not extradite two former officials after Turkey issued arrest warrants for them in relation to the Khashoggi case. Washington Post journalist Khashoggi was killed in the Saudi consulate in Istanbul in October but the Saudi government strongly denied any involvement, despite the fact that CIA reportedly concluded the country's Crown Prince Mohammad bin Salman ordered the assassination.
