The Swiss National Bank (SNB) reported on Monday a record annual profit of 80.7 billion Swiss francs for 2024, marking a recovery from its 3.2 billion Swiss franc loss in 2023.

The latest figure surpasses the SNB's previous profit of 54 billion Swiss francs in 2017. The central bank, which manages Switzerland's foreign currency reserves, benefited from global financial market trends.

According to the report, the record surge was driven by a 67.3 billion Swiss franc gain from foreign currency holdings and a 21.2 billion Swiss franc valuation increase in gold.
