Leader of the Scottish National Party (SNP) John Swinney (pictured) became on Tuesday Scotland's First Minister after a vote in the region's parliament, Holyrood.
Swinney thus became the head of the minority government and is to appoint its members later. Previously, he officially became the SNP's leader earlier this week.
Swinney's appointment came after his predecessor Humza Yousaf decided to step down.
