Sam Altman, CEO of OpenAI, the company behind ChatGPT, has become a billionaire, Forbes reported Monday.

According to the magazine, Altman ranked 2,692nd on its list of billionaires. The financial media claims that his wealth comes primarily from investments in startups, such as Reddit, which recently went public in New York, and payments company Stripe, which is currently worth an estimated $65 billion.

Based on public filings and investigative journalism, Forbes' estimation of Altman's wealth also accounts for his valuable real estate holdings in California and Hawaii. Despite his substantial wealth, Altman has made it clear that he does not hold equity in OpenAI, which is valued at an estimated $80 billion.
