United States officials believe that the Russian army wants to fabricate evidence when it comes to the deaths of prisoners of war in the Olenivka detention center in eastern Ukraine, Associated Press reported on Thursday.
According to the report, the Russians might plant the High Mobility Artillery Rocket System (HIMARS) parts in Olenivka to prove Ukrainian responsibility. Ukraine has denied culpability and stated that the Russia-backed separatists used a "flammable substance, which led to the rapid spread of fire in the room."
The attack on the center happened on July 29, and 53 Ukrainian prisoners of war were killed during the strike.
