The press service of Russian Sberbank said on Tuesday this financial services company would continue to operate as usual, despite being banned from the SWIFT international payment system.

"Disconnecting from SWIFT does not change the current situation in international settlements. Domestic transactions do not depend on SWIFT and will be carried out by the bank in a standard mode," a bank representative said.

Yesterday evening, leaders of the European Union countries decided to remove Russian Sberbank from the SWIFT international payment system as part of their sixth sanctions package.
