German Finance Minister Olaf Scholz (pictured) stated on Thursday that he is "confident" that a universal agreement on the digital tax can be reached.
During a speech at Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development's (OECD) Inclusive Framework meeting, Scholz asserted that pursuing solutions on a national level, without a global consensus on the issue would be a wrong way to approach the matter.
German Chancellor Angela Merkel conveyed a similar message during her speech at the World Economic Forum when she expressed hope that United States President Joe Biden would be willing to cooperate with OECD on the taxation of digital companies.
