Outgoing German Chancellor Olaf Scholz welcomed on Tuesday Russia's decision to agree to a partial 30-day ceasefire and halt attacking Ukraine's energy infrastructure in that period.

Still, Scholz also stressed that a solution to the conflict in Ukraine must include Kiev as a negotiating party. His comments came during a press conference after his meeting with French President Emmanuel Macron in Berlin.

Scholz's remarks were a comment on a telephone conversation between the presidents of the United States and Russia, Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin, during which they discussed the conflict in Ukraine and agreed to work to find a resolution to it.
