German Chancellor Olaf Scholz will welcome Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan to Berlin next week, the government's spokesperson, Christiane Hofmann, told reporters on Friday.
The two parties are expected to discuss "a wide range of political topics," Hoffmann stressed, with a particular focus on developments in the Middle East.
Over the past few weeks, the Turkish president has strongly criticized Israel's actions in the Gaza Strip, calling on Israel to come out of its "state of madness."
