German Chancellor Olaf Scholz (pictured right) stated on Wednesday that Ukraine would need a Marshall Plan after the "devastation" caused by the Russian military operation in that country.
Scholz explained that, in line with the new circumstances, his country will increase its military presence in the Baltic Sea area. He noted a deal was already reached with Lithuanian authorities and that Germany would also send troops to Slovakia to ensure the region's security.
The remarks come after the European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen confirmed Western Countries' intention to rebuild Ukraine.
