United States Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer called on Beijing to "stand with the Israeli people" during the meeting with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi (pictured right) on Monday.

During the meeting with the Chinese foreign minister, Schumer pointed out the necessity of "condemning" the "cowardly vicious attacks" on Israel and its people, expressing his disappointment with Beijing's response to the turmoil that erupted in the Middle East region over the weekend that allegedly showed "no sympathy or support" for Israel.

Namely, the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed Beijing's "deep" concern over the situation, calling on all parties involved to "exercise restraint and immediately end the hostilities to protect civilians and avoid further deterioration of the situation."
