United States Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer reacted on Friday to the latest much lower-than-expected rise in nonfarm payrolls by claiming that President Donald Trump "sow[s] chaos" and "reap[s] chaos," which led to "American families paying the price."
"Donald Trump's chaotic tariffs and his slashing cuts are bleeding our economy of good-paying jobs," Schumer tweeted. "It must end now."
Commenting on a variety of tariffs Trump announced to impose on different countries and sectors, Schumer noted that "before Donald Trump was president, these countries Trump made 'deals' with had tariffs in the 1% to 2% range, and now it's 15%. ... That's a tax hike on American families."
