Scott: China long-term threat

United States Senator Tim Scott of South Carolina said during the Republican Party presidential primary debate in Florida that China is a "long-term threat" to the US, while the US borders are an "immediate" one as he believes that there are "terrorist sleeper cells" in the country.

Scott said that he would support more aid for Ukraine, but added that there needs to be more accountability for the funding and that military assistance for Israel would have to be separated from similar packages for Kiev. The main aim of Ukraine funding should be to "degrade" the Russian military, according to Scott.

Speaking on domestic issues, the lawmaker vowed to make the US energy "independent" and "dominant" through a series of economic policies, especially focusing on resources on the US territory.
