The second patient to get Neuralink's brain-computer interface (BCI) Link is "super impressed" with it, the company said in an update.
Elon Musk's company stated the patient, who received the implant in July, "has been improving his ability to play video games and began learning how to use computer-aided design (CAD) software to design 3D objects." The patient is said to have connected Link to his computer following the surgery and was able to control the cursor with his mind within less than five minutes. "If all goes well, there will be hundreds of people with Neuralinks within a few years, maybe tens of thousands within 5 years, millions within 10 years," Musk stated in a post on X.
Neuralink's first patient said earlier this year that most of his implant's threads lost contact with his brain, diminishing the chip's functionality.
