Democratic Senators Adam Schiff and Elizabeth Warren sent a letter on Friday to the US Office of Government Ethics, urging an investigation into whether President Donald Trump violated federal ethics rules by offering exclusive access to investors in his $TRUMP meme coin, CNBC reported.

The report centers on a private dinner scheduled for May 22 at Trump's golf club near Washington, DC, which was announced earlier this week, sparking accusations of "pay-to-play" corruption. "President Trump's announcement promises exclusive access to the presidency in exchange for significant investment in one of the President's business ventures," the senators wrote.

They also raised concerns about foreign ties among some token holders and questioned safeguards around presidential dealings with digital assets.
