South Korea's President Moon Jae-in strongly condemned on Tuesday the latest ballistic missile launch by North Korea and urged the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) to take measures against Pyongyang's action. Moon added Seoul will not tolerate provocations from North Korea and urged the country to abandon its nuclear and missile program.

"I strongly urge North Korea to come out of its delusion that nuclear and missile development ensures its safety and make a decision to denuclearize," Moon said during an emergency UNSC meeting following the North's latest missile test.

Meanwhile, the United states military confirmed North Korea conducted the missile test and noted Pyongyang fired a land-based intermediate range missile from near the Panghyon airfield towards Japan. North Korea stated it will make an "important announcement" soon.
