Seoul to accelerate budget execution amid economic woes

DANIEL BERNARD / UNSPLASH

The South Korean Ministry of Finance declared it intends to expedite the disbursement of funds in the initial six months of 2023 to tackle increasing worries regarding economic deceleration, Yonhap reported on Monday.

The ministry's plan aims to be in line with the government's January vow to spend about 60% of the annual 638.7 trillion won ($500 billion) in the first half of the year.

"As we have raised the spending target to address the risks of an economic slowdown, all related ministries should join forces to speed up the implementation," the statement underscored.
