The International Olympic Committee (IOC) announced on Monday that seven contenders are vying for the presidency of the organization at the 143rd IOC Session in Greece, which will take place from March 18 to 21, 2025.
The candidates include Sebastian Coe, the head of world athletics; Johan Eliasch, a multi-millionaire and Olympic newcomer; Kirsty Coventry, Zimbabwe's Sports Minister; Juan Antonio Samaranch, the IOC Vice President; David Lappartient, the head of international cycling; Prince Feisal Al Hussein of Jordan; and Morinari Watanabe, the head of the international gymnastics federation.
In January 2025, the candidates will present their programs to the full IOC membership during a meeting in Lausanne, Switzerland.
