Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum said on Monday that Mexico is prepared to implement its strategy if no agreement is reached with the United States on fentanyl and tariffs by August 1.
During her daily press briefing, Sheinbaum stressed that her government has fulfilled its commitments on security and is awaiting reciprocal action from Washington. "They know the progress we have made in security. We are in constant communication, and we are confident that we will reach an agreement by August 1. If not, we also have our plan," Sheinbaum said during her regular press briefing.
She noted that discussions with US officials are ongoing and that her team recently returned from meetings in Washington to finalize details of a proposed broader accord linking security, trade, and sovereignty.
