Iraqi News Agency said on Tuesday that Shell plc "apologized" to Iraq's government after discontinuing talks with local Industry and Oil Ministries regarding the Nebras Petrochemical Project in Basra, as a major investor.

According to the statement, Prime Minister Mohammed Shia' Al Sudani ordered both ministries to study other options that are more responsive to the new gas reality after signing the investment contract with the French company TotalEnergies SE, as well as to re-examine the size of the project left by Shell, its design capacity, and other technical details.
