Siemens to cut over 6,000 jobs worldwide

Siemens AG intends to lay off 5,600 employees in automation business worldwide, including around 2,600 in Germany, and about 450 workers in electric vehicle charging business globally in order to enhance competitiveness in the two sectors, the company said in a press release on Tuesday.

"As far as possible, the people affected are to be offered opportunities for re- and upskilling. Job placement inside the company will also play a key role in implementing the measures," Siemens explained.

The company said the announced measures in automation sector will be completed by the end of fiscal 2027, while workforce cuts in electric vehicle charging business will be implemented by the end of fiscal 2025.
