European Energy Commissioner Kadri Simson warned on Monday that filling gas storages next year will be much more challenging than this year's preparations for winter.
Commenting on the European Union's decision to impose a price cap on gas imports, Simson insisted that the bloc wasn't prepared to pay any price for gas deliveries. However, today's agreement includes safeguards in case the cap causes an increase in margin calls.
Brussels stands ready to suspend the decision if regulators' analysis proves emerging risks outweigh the benefits created by the price cap, Simson concluded in remarks delivered to reporters.
