The Egyptian presidency announced on Monday that President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi ordered Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly to form a new government after accepting Madbouly's submission of his cabinet's resignation.
"The President has assigned Madbouly to form a new government of ministers with distinguished competencies, experience, and capabilities, that will work to achieve several goals, the most important of which is preserving the determinants of Egyptian national security in light of regional and international challenges ... The President has assigned the current government to continue conducting its duties until the new government is formed," the document reads.
El-Sisi secured a third term in office after winning the presidential elections held in December, where he garnered 89.6% of the total vote.
