SoftBank Group Corp. and Apollo Global Management discussed a large fund to invest in chip plants, data centers and several other Artificial Intelligence (AI) projects, Semafor reported on Tuesday, citing people with knowledge of the matter.

According to the report, the companies talked about the creation of a fund of more than $20 billion, which would involve industry partners such as Arm Holdings plc, the chip manufacturer majority-owned by SoftBank.

However, the sources stressed that talks have been on hold since the summer and may end up being fruitless.
