Some companies listed at the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) had their stock trading temporarily halted shortly after the opening, the organization said on Tuesday.
The enterprises influenced by the halt included Morgan Stanley, 3M Company, Verizon Communications, AT&T Inc., Raytheon Technologies Corporation, Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company Ltd. (TSMC), McDonald's Corporation, Nike, Inc., Visa Inc., etc. The trading for most of those firms resumed shortly after. By 9:50 am ET, the problem was resolved, the NYSE said.
The issue was caused by what was said to be a technical error, possibly caused by the volatility as many of the aforementioned companies saw sharp movements in their stock value at the beginning of the session.
