The Kenya Space Agency shared that the metallic object that fell from the sky and landed in Mukuku Village in Kenya appeared to be a fragment of a space object, the preliminary findings showed.
A metallic ring, weighing about 500 kilograms and spanning 2.5 meters in diameter, is thought to be a separation ring from a rocket launch. Such objects are typically designed to either burn up upon re-entry into Earth's atmosphere or fall over uninhabited areas, often oceans, the agency reported.
Investigations into the ring's origin are still underway, with no official evidence linking the debris to the Indian Space Research Organization or any particular space mission, despite media claims to the contrary, the space agency clarified.
