SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket lifted off on Saturday from its launch site in Cape Canaveral, Florida on a five-month mission to carry the United Arab Emirates Rashid rover to the Moon's surface.

The miniature rover is currently en route to the Moon atop a privately-built Hakuto-R Mission 1 lander, that was constructed by the Japanese company, iSpace. If the landing proves successful it would mark the first time a privately-led mission landed on the lunar surface.
