SpaceX launched on Wednesday a Falcon 9 rocket carrying a global positioning system III (GPS-III) satellite Space Vehicle 06 (GPS-III-SV06), also called Amelia Earhart, on behalf of the United States Space Force (USSF).
The launch took place at Cape Canaveral Space Force Station at around 7:24 am ET. The GPS-III-SV06 satellite was built by Lockheed Martin Corporation at its plant in Littleton, Colorado.
This is the fourth mission for Elon Musk-founded SpaceX this year. Its goal is to deliver GPS-III-SV06 and place it into a medium Earth orbit (MEO).
