Space Exploration Technologies Corp. (SpaceX) submitted a letter on Friday lobbying United States Trade Representative Jamieson Greer on US President Donald Trump's tariffs.
The letter, signed by SpaceX's senior director of global business and government affairs, Mat Dunn, stated that the company already "faces a range of regulatory complexities and trade barriers in every country that the US government should seek to address in order to support continued US leadership in the space domain." Dunn also claimed that the import taxes paid in some of the countries represent a "significant cost increase" for Starlink products in those countries, whereas the US has no similar import duties for foreign products sold in the United States.
Dunn's letter follows a similar one sent by billionaire Elon Musk's other company, Tesla, which was unsigned and expressed similar concerns about the impact of Trump's tariffs on the company's bottom line.
