Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez met with Chinese President Xi Jinping in Beijing, marking the 20th anniversary of the countries' "strategic partnership." According to Sanchez's comments on X on Friday, the leaders agreed to give new momentum to relations, focusing on "balanced and mutually beneficial" cooperation.
During his visit, Sanchez and his delegation also held talks with executives from major Chinese firms in the automotive, battery, and green energy sectors. He highlighted Spain’s strengths and encouraged investments that would "create added value and quality jobs."
The meetings have been seen as an attempt by the European Union to get closer to Beijing amid the trade war triggered by the United States and the imposition of tariffs.
