Consumer prices in Spain rose 3.3% in April compared to the same month a year earlier, the National Institute of Statistics said on Tuesday, thus confirming its provisional estimate. On a monthly basis, consumer prices grew 0.7% during the reported month.
The price of food and non-alcoholic beverages was the main driver behind the April inflation rate, jumping by 4.7% on an annual level. Housing saw a 4% jump in the reported period due to the increase of gas prices. The harmonized index of consumer prices for Spain increased by 3.4%, while underlying inflation went up by 0.6% on a monthly basis, and 2.9% compared to April 2023.
