Spirit Airlines, Inc. is expected to appoint Dave Davis as the new chief executive officer (CEO) to replace its previous CEO Ted Christie, who stepped down in early April, the Wall Street Journal reported on Thursday, citing three sources with knowledge of the matter. The official announcement is expected to come later in the day.
Davis has recently served as president and chief financial officer at Sun Country Airlines Holdings Inc. In his career, Davis held many senior positions in the airline industry, including CFO of Northwest Airlines before Delta Air Lines acquired it.
In November, Spirit filed for bankruptcy protection in an attempt to restructure its debt after failing to merge with JetBlue Airways Corp.
