Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) spokesperson Daniel Hagari said on Thursday that the military did not launch any strike toward the aid convoy in Gaza City, adding that the death of over a hundred Palestinian civilians was "the unfortunate incident."
Hagari explained that the Israeli troops were securing the humanitarian corridor in order to provide Gazans with aid. "The tanks which were there to secure the convoy see the Gazans being trampled and cautiously try to disperse the mob with a few warning shots," the spokesman noted.
Earlier in the day, United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres condemned the attack, while his spokesperson Stephane Dujarric said that civilians in Gaza need "urgent help".
