British Prime Minister Keir Starmer said Russia's overnight strikes on Kiev highlight Moscow's role as the true aggressor in the war, calling the attacks a "real, human reminder" of the toll on Ukrainians. Speaking during a visit to Rolls-Royce in Bristol on Thursday, Starmer stressed the importance of an "unconditional" and "lasting" ceasefire, noting that diplomatic efforts were ongoing in London and Paris.
The comments follow Russia's deadly airstrikes on Ukraine's capital, despite Moscow's stated interest in peace talks. "I think it’s a real reminder that Russia is the aggressor here and that is being felt by the Ukrainians, as it has been felt for three long years now ... That's why it's important to get Russia to an unconditional ceasefire," he stressed.
Previously, European Union High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Kaja Kallas echoed Starmer's concerns, stating that Moscow's deadly strike on Kiev exposes the gap between its words and actions.
