Former Trump White House adviser, Steve Bannon (pictured), was found guilty on Friday of refusing to testify and give records to the House committee investigating the Jan. 6, 2021 events.
After a less than three-hour deliberation, a federal court jury in Washington found Bannon guilty of two charges of contempt of Congress. The Justice Department filed the petition last year after Bannon challenged a subpoena from the House panel. The committee was seeking his testimony about his connections with Former President Donald Trump amid his effort to overturn the 2020 election results.
Last November, Bannon pleaded not guilty to contempt of Congress charges. Now, he faces a maximum of two years in prison on the misdemeanor charges and has stated that he intends to appeal.
