Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Store presented his new government on Tuesday at the Slottsplassen, with former NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg chosen as the new minister of finance.
"I stand here today with the first pure Labour Party government in 25 years," Store told reporters. Meanwhile, in a statement, Stoltenberg said he was "deeply honored" to have been selected for the position. "I will return to the Munich Security Conference and to my other responsibilities when my tenure is over. I am grateful for the decision to temporarily release me from my duties while I serve my country once again," he said.
Norway's government collapsed last week as the Center Party, which was a part of the ruling coalition, left Store's cabinet after refusing to accept three new EU clean energy directives.
