North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg commented on Sunday on Russia's military operation in its west-neighboring country by saying that "Ukraine can win this war."
Speaking virtually at the NATO members' foreign ministers' meeting in Berlin, Stoltenberg urged the alliance to "continue to step up and sustain" its support for Ukraine. "Russia's war in Ukraine is not going as Moscow had planned. They failed to take Kiev," he commented. "They are pulling back from Kharkiv and their major offensive in Donbass has stalled."
Commenting on Finland and Sweden's potential admission to NATO, Stoltenberg the group will "try to speed up that process" as Helsinki and Stockholm are "concerned about the interim period." "We will look into ways to provide security assurances including by increasing NATO presence in the region," he added.
