A Sudanese para-military group alleged that they had taken control of the presidential palace located in Khartoum. According to witnesses cited by CNN, there were reports of intense fighting near the palace and army headquarters, accompanied by the sound of heavy weapons being used.
Furthermore, the para-militants stated that they had seized control of three airports, namely Khartoum, Marwa, and al-Abiad, causing the suspension of all incoming and outgoing flights.
The group reportedly claimed that they were responding to an unexpected assault by the army on one of their bases.
