US judge may allow third party investigation into Trump's home raid

A United States federal judge signaled on Thursday that she may allow former President Donald Trump to appoint a special master to examine the documents the FBI seized from his home last month, though she did not further comment on the matter.

District Judge Aileen Cannon, who was appointed by Trump, commented that she "sees no harm [in special master's review] beyond delaying the investigation," as she questioned why the Justice Department remains firm in its opposition to the independent party's examination.

Earlier today, Cannon ruled in favor of unsealing a detailed list of what the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) took from the former president's Mar-a-Lago residence in July.
