United Kingdom Prime Minister Rishi Sunak on Friday arrived in Paris to meet with French President Emmanuel Macron during the Franco-British summit. The two are expected to discuss issues of mutual concern, such as migrant crossings in the English Channel and war in Ukraine.
"As we face new and unprecedented threats, it is vital that we fortify the structures of our alliance so we are ready to take on the challenges of the future. That is what we will do at the UK-France Summit today," the British government quoted the prime minister in the released statement. "The UK and France also have a privileged role as defenders of European and global security," Sunak stressed.
The visit marks the first meeting between the two nations' officials since the pandemic outbreak. Britain's Foreign Secretary James Cleverly and Defense Secretary Ben Wallace have joined the prime minister for the summit.
