United Kingdom Prime Minister Rishi Sunak said in an interview published on Friday that people should not expect the state to "fix every problem" but vowed to work on restoring economic stability.
Sunak told The Times that he is "confident" that Britons will see his government's budget, set to be unveiled on November 17, as "fair and compassionate."
"My job is to regain people's trust. We're going to do that by being honest, we're going to do that by being fair, we're going to do that by delivering," the UK prime minister stated.
Earlier reports suggested that the UK government plans to extend windfall taxes on oil and gas, as well as introduce a tax on electric cars. The government is also said to be considering hiking the capital gains tax.
