Universal Studios Japan announced on Monday that its theme-park Super Nintendo World would open on February 4 next year in the city of Osaka.

The opening event will be in line with the park's 20th anniversary. The latest addition will include a Mario Kart-themed rollercoaster, a Donkey Kong-themed area and other memorable figures and places from Nintendo's virtual worlds.

However, the park has operated at 50% capacity due to the coronavirus pandemic in order to ensure a safe environment for all visitors. In times not affected by a crisis, Universal Studios Japan was visited by around 15 million people each year.
