Super typhoon Pepito heads toward Philippines

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Service Administration (PAGASA) announced on Saturday that the tropical cyclone Pepito, also known as Man-yi, strengthened into a super typhoon as it headed toward the Philippines.

PAGASA said intense to torrential rainfall is expected over the weekend with widespread severe flooding. The agency said the Philippines can also expect significant to severe impacts from winds and a high risk of life-threatening storm surge within the next 48 hours.
