Swiss GDP grows 0.4% in Q3

The Swiss Gross Domestic Product (GDP) in the third quarter of 2024 rose 0.4% compared to the previous three-month period, the Swiss State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO) revealed in its report on Friday. Year over year, the figure grew 2%.

Quarter on quarter, construction increased by 0.8% and trade rose by 1.4% while manufacturing decreased by 1.1%. On an annual level, manufacturing jumped 1.5%, construction added 2.1%, and trade lost 0.4%.

"Parts of the services sector, construction, and consumption supported growth, while exports of goods and value-added in manufacturing declined. The chemical and pharmaceutical industry barely grew after a strong previous quarter; the other manufacturing sectors recorded significant declines," the report added.

Swiss GDP growth forecast slightly lowered
Swiss gross domestic product growth estimate for 2025 was revised down from 1.5% to 1.4%, the country's State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO) shared in its March report.
