The Swiss Gross Domestic Product (GDP) in the third quarter of 2024 rose 0.4% compared to the previous three-month period, the Swiss State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO) revealed in its report on Friday. Year over year, the figure grew 2%.
Quarter on quarter, construction increased by 0.8% and trade rose by 1.4% while manufacturing decreased by 1.1%. On an annual level, manufacturing jumped 1.5%, construction added 2.1%, and trade lost 0.4%.
"Parts of the services sector, construction, and consumption supported growth, while exports of goods and value-added in manufacturing declined. The chemical and pharmaceutical industry barely grew after a strong previous quarter; the other manufacturing sectors recorded significant declines," the report added.
